Our Story

Medicine Tail Trail Rides is a new name carrying on an old story. For more than 25 years, our family has guided horseback rides around the historic Little Bighorn Battlefield landscape, Indian encampment, and surrounding homeland that we know so deeply. Our family has called this area home for generations and our horse work is a generational trait. Today, we’re excited to continue sharing that experience with even more guests through online platforms and new opportunities to connect.

“Medicine Tail” is an ancestral name passed down from a matriarch in our lineage. We carry the name with respect, humility, and pride, honoring our connection to the history, culture, and land that surrounds us.

As Indigenous Montanans, this land is more than scenery to us — it is home. Our trail rides are built from generations of knowledge, horsemanship, and respect for the country we ride through. We raise and work with our horses daily so guests can feel confident, safe, and comfortable in the saddle while taking in the beauty and history of the Little Bighorn area.

Our horses are true working horses and an important part of our family and livelihood. They help with brandings, moving cows, catching colts, and teaching the next generation of riders. They know the land and their job so well, and that provides a steady, trustworthy ride for guests of all experience levels.
